hd Sub18

The hd Sub18 is a compact and powerful subwoofer with bass reflex tuning that is easy to transport. The specially developed 18″ long excursion chassis with 5″ voice coil on fiberglass carrier and neodymium magnet system allows a linear excursion of 30 mm. Through a ventilation at the pole piece and at the spider the heat development of the coil is optimally dissipated. Therefore, an extremely high continuous power handling capacity of 1800W / 7200W (AES / peak) is possible. The lower heat development also means increased reliability and reduced thermal stress on the voice coil. Excellent dynamics and dry bass reproduction at incredible pressure is the result. The filtering is done by Harmonic Design DSP amplifiers. With active crossover of 24 dB/octave up to max. 160 Hz, best possible transitions between LF and HF are achieved.

The enclosure is made of multiplex wood and provided with a shock and weather-resistant polyurethane coating. A sturdy front grille with internal acoustic foam protects the front of the speaker. Generously dimensioned transport handles are integrated into the side walls. On the back there are inlet threads for attaching hd SilentWheels, the acoustically decoupled 100 mm hd SilentWheels, as well as a recessed connection panel with two NL4 sockets for connection via pin 2+/2- and forwarding of the input signal. Operation is as a slave subwoofer on the active hd P18 system subwoofer or on all Harmonic Design system amplifiers to ensure reliable and accurate low-frequency reproduction. The loudspeaker enclosure is available on request in RAL colors, weatherproof or as an installation version without handles and without M20 thread.
