The hd PL16 PowerLine Stick is equipped with sixteen 3″ full-range speakers. The elegant rounded loudspeaker housing made of aluminum allows a particularly high packing density of the loudspeakers. Therefore, the sixteen drivers couple to a 10° vertically opening wavefront that the system operates on the principle of the cylindrical wave. The result is a consistent sound pressure level and nuanced sound from the first to the last row. The large throw range of up to 25 m and horizontal coverage of 80° ensures efficient sound solutions with only a few speakers. This leads to more direct sound, offers a higher speech intelligibility and a high feedback safety in acoustically problematic rooms, with lower basic volume. Therefore, the hd PL column speakers are ideal for voice and music transmission in halls, clubs and churches.

The hd PL16 has a lower overall height than the hd ML24, despite having the same weight. This makes it easier to use in locations with low ceilings and to transport in cars. Due to the increased directivity of the 3″ chassis, the horizontal sound opening angle is 80° and ensures that the sound energy is bundled even more and thus allows a greater throw range. With a larger membrane area than the hd ML24, the hd PL16 provides more powerful reproduction of music and speech in the low-mid range, achieving higher sound pressure levels.

In order to transmit a sound event from the fundamental to the overtones, conventional loudspeakers use two or three different types of transducers. This results in incoherence not only in the crossover areas, but also in the important mid-frequency-range due to the different decay times and the different diaphragm mass of the transducers types in a different “response characteristic”. Especially in the reproduction of instruments or speech in which the fundamental range is covered by the one type of transducer and the overtone range by the other type of transducer, the sound is distorted. This is where the hd PL-Series 1-way design shines: full-range speakers that cover the fundamental range up to the harmonic, the linear array with its LineArray benefits, and the coherence of the sound wave, with no “phasing” and group delay a listening experience in a class of its own.

The continuous metal rail for M6 square nuts on the back allows any mounting of wall brackets or a tiltable tripod adapter. On the bottom there is a Speakon NL4. A high quality powder coating of the aluminum tube and acoustic foam guarantees the roadworthiness of the PL-Series. For safe transport, we offer a custom-made nylon carrying case with full zip, a handle and shoulder strap.
